The Avatar the sequels spent so long in development hell it was easy to start believing that we would never actually see them. So many films that have gone under have fallen apart before they were even made, and yet, Avatar: The Way of Water it’s almost here. It’s taking another big step towards its release this December as the score is now being tallied. Fortunately, musicians don’t have to work underwater.
Avatar 2 produced by Jon Landau’s Instagram it was a great place to watch the progress of the long awaited Avatar sequel, and now we’ve been shown that production has reached the point where the score for the new film is being recorded. Score recording is one of the last major elements added to a film, so this film is almost complete.

Considering how late in the process the score is usually composed, it’s amazing that we’re here. Considering how much time James Cameron spent writing these movies and how many times the release date was pushed back, it would be easy to assume that these sequels would never actually happen. But as with every behind-the-scenes production we’ve seen, this one shows us just how real it all is.
The score for Avatar: The Way of Water composed by Simon Franglen. He takes over from James Horner, who handled the music for the original Avatar, as well as for many of James Cameron’s other films. Unfortunately, Horner passed away in 2015. However, Franglen is certainly not new to the world of Pandora. He worked with Horner on the original film and also composed all of the music found on Pandora for Disney’s Animal Kingdom – The World of Avatar.

The good news for everyone who makes music Avatar: The Way of Water is that they won’t actually have to deal with actual water. Its production Avatar The sequel was absolutely unique in the way that so much of it was literally shot underwater. Actors had to learn to hold their breath for long periods in order to complete the downloads. The people who make it Aquaman the movies didn’t have to deal with that.
I will Never say Jams Cameron doesn’t go hard. Most of his films have pushed the boundaries of filmmaking in ways most of us would never have guessed. The question now is how these other three Avatar movies, which we now have to believe we will actually see, will impress us even more.
