The fifth Scream The film arrived in January, directed Ready or not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett; That project featured a trio of original stars, but the star was definitely Sam Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera. Synopsis for the sixth film revealed that the two sets of surviving siblings would be leaving Woodsboro to move to New York, and that the new setting seems to really change Ghostface’s attacks. Barrera recently spoke Accelerator about this process, saying:
So, sign up. New York was never his location Scream films, with the franchise taking place in Woodsboro or other areas of California. And it sounds like the hustle and bustle of the city will make Ghostface’s pursuits uniquely terrifying. Because while there are people everywhere, will busy New Yorkers stop and help when the masked killer strikes? We’ll have to see when the project arrives in the spring.
Melissa Barrera’s comments on the sixth Scream The film came as he was promoting new film Carmen at the Toronto International Film Festival. With Barrera now at the helm of the beloved slasher property, the conversation has understandably turned Scream. And it sounds like the move from Woodboro to New York will create an exciting new dynamic for the franchise and how Ghostface stalks his victims.
As previously mentioned, Scream 6 is expected to follow the two sets of siblings who managed to survive the last film. Namely Sam and Tara Carpenter (Melissa Barerra and Jenna Ortega) and Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin (YellowjacketJasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding). The film will also feature his much-anticipated comeback Scream 4Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed, though it’s unclear how he’ll be involved in the mysterious story. Besides, it The horror franchise is known for its tight security.
Unfortunately the upcoming Scream The sequel will also make history as the first without Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. The iconic scream queen revealed that he left the project due to a dispute over pay, to the dismay of fans. And since David Arquette was killed off in the last film, it seems Courteney Cox will be the only OG cast member to appear in the sixth slasher.
