Watch Broadway’s Jeremy Pope in the trailer for the new film The Inspection
The new drama tells the story of a young gay black man who faces homophobia in the Marines.
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming drama The Inspection starring Broadway’s Jeremy Pope (Choir Boy, Ain’t Too Proud—Life and Times of Temptation). Elegance Bratton is set to be released in the US on November 18th, directs the film inspired by Bratton’s experiences.
Pope plays Ellis French, a young gay Black man who has enlisted in the Marine Corps and tries to hide his sexual orientation, but fails. Faced with a homophobic mother at home and a near-fatal hiccup at boot camp, the film follows French as he struggles to find validation and acceptance.
He is joined in the cast by Raúl Castillo, McCaul Lombardi, Aaron Dominguez, Nicholas Logan, Eman Esfandi, Andrew Kai, Aubrey Joseph, Bokeem Woodbine and Gabrielle Union.
The film originally had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Union is also an executive producer for the film and served as a producer for Broadway’s American son.
