James Cameron is a director known for spectacle, especially in the the record-breaking 2009 blockbuster Avatar. Fans have waited over a decade to finally return to Pandora thanks to the film’s delays, although the excitement has been boosted by Disney theme park attractions. The long-awaited sequel The Water Road hits theaters this holiday season, and Sigourney Weaver recently revealed the training she went through to play her new character Na’vi in the film.
Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron clearly have a great working relationship, which was on full display throughout the first Avatar film. But since the character of Dr. Grace Augustine was lost in the first film, fans were wondering how Alien The icon will affect the story of the sequel. She actually plays Jake and Neytiri’s young Na’vi daughter, Kiri, which will come to life thanks to motion capture and extensive visual effects. Weaver recently spoke Magazine Interview about The Water Road, where he explained the skills he had to acquire while filming the blockbuster. In her words,
Well, here it is. While Sigourney Weaver’s appearance will change a lot thanks to Avatar: The Way of WaterIn her post-production process, she still had to put her whole body into bringing Kiri to life. This includes picking up things like parkour and free diving. As we know, there was a lot of underwater work has been done while the cast was filming for her Avatar sequels.
Sigourney Weaver’s comments in Interview show how much work goes into making a movie like Avatar: The Way of Water. While dealing with the costumes and technology is already difficult enough, she and co-stars like Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, and newcomer Kate Winslet also did an incredibly physical job of making the project come true.
There’s been a ton of hype about how much underwater work the cast has Avatar 2 eventually participated in.
