Ben Affleck will direct Matt Damon in a new Netflix crime thriller, Animals.
Per The Hollywood Reporterthe Good Will Hunting co-stars are reuniting once again for Animals, a new crime thriller to be directed by Affleck and starring Damon.
Written by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, the 'crime thriller is about a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son has been kidnapped. Surrounded by many enemies, politicians and others, the husband and wife have no choice but to really get their hands dirty to save their son.”
Filming on the film could begin in Los Angeles in March 2024.
Affleck and Damon are also producing the film with Dani Bernfeld, Brad Weston, Collin Creighton and Fifth Season.
In which movies have Ben Affleck and Matt Damon acted together?
Affleck and Damon, who met during childhood, have collaborated on several projects in the past. Their first professional collaboration together was 1989's Field of Dreams, before appearing together in 1992's School Ties, 1997's Good Will Hunting, 1999's Chasing Amy, 1999's Dogma, 2001's Jay and Silent Bob 2019, and Silent Bob's Strike 2019, The Last Duel, and, most recently, 2023's Air.
The two also own their own independent film company, Artists Equity, which was founded in 2023. Affleck and Damon are both producers of Animals through Artists Equity.
Affleck made his feature film directorial debut in 2007 with Gone Baby Gone, starring his brother, Casey Affleck. He then directed 2010's The Town, 2012's Argo and 2016's Live by Night, in which he starred, before following up with 2023's Air.
Along with Air, Damon also starred in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer in 2023. He will next be seen in Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke's Drive-Away Dolls, which is released in the United States on February 23, 2024.
Animals does not yet have a Netflix release date.
