Among many other reasons, Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini in the song “Besharam Rang” became one of the major reasons for the call for a boycott Pathan. However, looking at the Shah Rukh Khan starrer advance booking report details, Pathan expected to do good business. With the film’s release just around the corner, choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant spoke about her experience of working with Deepika on “Besharam Rang”.

In an interactive video shared by YRF on their YouTube handle, Vaibhavi said, “I was very clear that I didn’t want it to look like a typical Hindi movie party song. The song is very subdued. It’s relaxed, it’s adaa’s (it moves). It doesn’t have ki ab step daalun iss mai, iss mai bohot saare daalun moves. (It wasn’t for adding steps and moves).

He further added, “Logically, also, if the hero met the girl, obviously there should be chemistry, chemistry. He can’t just land on location and start dancing. This song was about nuances, about adaa, about sensuality and relaxation in your body. Hence, it made sense that even Shah Rukh’s character would lose that shirt and run away. Nobody goes to the beach wearing full clothes.”

Later, he praised Deepika Padukone and called her a silent worker. Trader said, “With Deepika, this was a very pleasant day, smooth sailing, calm (experience). He had a way of working things out, rehearsing. And it was much less demanding. I was very excited about the fact that he got the vision. And she was in sync literally she’s a little rowdy. When I say she’s a bit of a hustler, I mean she’s not a do-it-all, she’s a quiet worker. It quietly observes what is happening and understands what someone is really telling you. She’s very smart about her job, which I like.”

The Siddharth Anand directorial is slated to release on January 25, 2023.
