Having brought us not only his latest film, “Asteroid City,” but four short films based on Roald Dahl's work last year, Wes Anderson could easily take off in 2024. But he already has a new film in the works, and now , via World of Reelwe know that Bill Murray and Michael Cera will star, along with the previously announced Benicio Del Toro.

What is the story of Wes Anderson's next movie?

Anderson, who apparently completed the script (working alongside occasional collaborator Roman Coppola) before last year's writers' strike, is keeping details close to his chest.
But in an interview with Le Monde last JuneAnderson commented a little about it, including revealing a reunion with Benicio Del Toro, who appeared on the director's The French Dispatch:
“My next feature film will be linear, with Benicio Del Toro in every shot. I can't tell you much more than that, except that it's going to be about espionage, a father-daughter relationship and, shall we say, rather dark in tone.”

With Del Toro already confirmed, Murray is no surprise. He has worked on nine of Anderson's films and pulled out of “Asteroid City” due to a combination of scheduling problems and complaints about his behavior in another film. It seems that despite these complaints, Anderson is more than happy to stick with him.
Michael Cera would be a new recruit to the director's extended troupe, but we can definitely see him fitting the quirky style that is as much a part of Anderson's canon as his perfect frame compositions.
Anderson had intended to begin shooting the film last fall, but it had to be delayed due to the actors' strike. The plan now is to start filming later this spring.
While this latest project reportedly features a much smaller cast than the expansive “Asteroid City” ensemble, we'd expect to hear at least a few more additions in the coming months.
When is the new Wes Anderson movie coming out?
As of now, there is no word on the film's release date. Could he do this in time for awards season? We'd have our doubts, but anything is possible at this point.
