Bollywood congratulates ‘King’ Kohli, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora and Farhan Akhtar to salute his world record

The much-awaited ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final match between India and New Zealand is taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The event is expected to attract a host of celebrities with Rajinikanth having already arrived in Mumbai. David Beckham, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal and many others are also expected to attend, making it a star-studded affair in Mumbai. And those who couldn’t make it to the ground are glued to the TV.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat in the semi-final. Virat Kohli, who scored 117 off 113 balls, has now surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most runs in a single World Cup, surpassing Tendulkar’s 673 runs from the 2003 World Cup. The 35-year-old Kohli also scored a century of scoring Lockie Ferguson with the two-sided fast bowler. He faced 106 balls, hitting eight fours and a six, breaking the record of 49 ODI hundreds he had shared with Sahin Tendulkar.

Wife Anushka Sharma cheered Virat from the stands. They exchanged flying kisses as Virat scored his 50th ODI century, Anushka was left teary-eyed. Meanwhile, Virat also bowed to his ‘hero’, Sachin Tendulkar.

Many took to social media to congratulate King Kohli. Among them were Arjun Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Malaika Arora, Athiya Shetty, Shehnaaz Gill and SS Rajamouli.

Congratulating Virat, Farhan wrote, “Congratulations @virat.kohli on achieving this incredible milestone in your career. It is a testament to your discipline, dedication, acumen and fitness.

Arjun, taking to Instagram Stories, wrote, “When hard work meets pure talent. What a player!!! Legend.” His sweetheart posted a picture of Virat and Sachin and wrote, “Icons only”.

Sonam Kapoor shared a quote that read “Somewhere between cheering for Sachin to cheering for Sachin and cheering for Virat, we grew.”
