The series started with The call (2013). It got noticed due to very positive word of mouth and hence, ended its run with collections amounting to around Rs. 17 crores. Annabel (2014) hit theaters the following year. It opened well because of the connection with The call. But due to mixed reports, its collections totaled to Rs. 13 crores.
The Conjuring 2 (2016) was one of the biggest surprises of that year. No one imagined in their wildest dreams that he would end up collecting Rs. 61.80 crores despite negligible promotion and an adult-only certificate. To put things in perspective, he has collected more than some of the biggest Hindi movies released that year like Befikre and Ki & Ka.
As expected, Annabelle: Creation (2017) capitalized on the super success of its predecessor as it collected Rs. 48.45 crores. The Nun (2018) a year later made a healthy Rs. 47.65 crores. Annabelle comes home (2019) also did well as it earned Rs. 26 crores despite not so good word of mouth.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) performed poorly as it had a delayed release in India due to the pandemic. Until then, many had seen it in pirated prints. Word of mouth was also not favorable and moreover, the crucial state of Maharashtra was closed. As a result, he earned just Rs. 7.45 crores from 786 screens.
But his success The Nun II proves that the franchise is alive and kicking. The total collections of all these 8 movies stand at a whopping Rs. 270.23 crores. This proves that it is the biggest horror franchise in India by miles. It also indicates that the next film in the series, The Conjuring: Last Riteswill also benefit.

It was released in April this year and collected Rs. 36.50 crores though it clashed with Salman Khan’s Eid release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The other movies on the list are The (2017), Insidious: The Red Door (2023) and Chapter Two (2019). Interestingly, both his films The were released by Warner Bros. and in that regard, Warner Bros. takes the cake with 9 out of 10 movies on this coveted list.
