Chris Hemsworth has been spotted on the set of the new Mad Max movie in Sydney for the first time, looking dramatically different from his usual self.
Chris Hemsworth was spotted looking almost unrecognizable while filming the new Mad Max movie in Sydney’s south.
The Thor star had swapped his iconic blonde wig for a bushy, long red-haired version of himself – sporting a bushy beard as he filmed scenes for Fury Road prequel, Furiosaat Kurnell.
Hemsworth, 38, was also seen sporting a prosthetic nose.
His family – including wife Elsa Pataky, twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 8, daughter India Rose, 10, and father Craig Hemsworth, 67 – were all present on set and seemed to be into the film.
The entire family was pictured walking through a large crowd of extras, many of whom were full Mad Max– style suit, featuring leather bikes, dusty and tattered clothes and impressive body paint.
Australian actors Angus Sampson and Ian Roberts were also seen on set during filming.
Director George Miller previously explained that the latest installment in the post-apocalyptic franchise will be a “saga” – told over a period of 15 years – focusing on the origin story of a young Imperator Furiosa, played by The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy.
Furiosa was originally portrayed by Charlize Theron in 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road.
It has not yet been announced who Hemsworth’s role will be in the prequel film.
He was at the side of then-premier Gladys Berejiklian in 2019 when it was announced that the franchise would be filmed in New South Wales, bringing an estimated $350 million to the economy and creating 850 local jobs, making it the biggest film ever made in the state.
