If you can believe it, we now have less than a month Scream is finally coming out in theaters. The restart by Radio Silence directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett comes just over 25 years after the original film launched the post-horror franchise. It promises to offer everything horror fans love in the previous four films of the late Wes Craven legend and to add some shocking twists and updates to the formula.
But one thing Scream The franchise could not have progressed without Ghostface, or rather the iconic costume worn by the many assassins who terrorized the lives of Sidney Prescott of Neve Campbell and the rest of Woodsboro all these years. And this new poster from Dolby (via Twitter) teases the ghost of death that falls over the city once again. As shown below, the elegant poster depicts a giant Ghostface swallowing the road to Woodsboro.
MORE THAN THE WEB
Marketing for what fans still refer to as Scream 5 highlighted the mystery of who is under the guise this time. Previous character posters have even encouraged us to wonder if it could be Sid herself or even David Arquette’s Dewey Riley or Courtney Cox Gale Weather. It would be a very bold move if the movie turned one of these OG stars into a killer, even more so than if one of the three actually died.
As for the new suspects / victims, Melissa Barrera joins the series as Sam Carpenter, who appears to be the new final girl, with Jack Quaid’s Richie Kirsch appearing to be the new boss. Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, Sonia Ben Ammar, Mikey Madison and Scream 4Marley Shelton completes the cast.
Find out who lives, who dies and who kills when Scream enters theaters on January 14.
