Mansoor Khan directed Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) is one of the most anticipated and beloved films of Aamir Khan, who made his debut with this production by Nasir Hussain. The film also stars actor Dalip Tahil in a central role – he played Aamir’s father. But did you know that he was only 31 when he signed the party? In a new interview, Dalip Tahil visited the movie again and talked about how Nasir Hussain was very sure he was playing Aamir’s father in the movie.
Dalip Tahil told the Times of India that he got the Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak after his TV show Buniyaad. He recalled when he asked Nasir Hussein where he found him, the writer-producer replied that he had seen Tahil’s performance in Buniyaad and was sure he could render the role. Dalip described the father’s role as “strong” and “emotional”. He went on to reveal that many big stars had denied Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He then said that he was only 31 years old when he played the role, but he did not even think once about his age before signing the film.
“I was not even a father at the time I was playing Aamir Khan’s father, I was not even married,” he said.
Dalip further said that initially Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was supposed to star Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor. At the moment, Nasir Hussain was going to direct. However, he suffered a heart attack and was advised not to take on the stress of making movies. And that’s how Mansoor Khan took over the director’s chair. But Mansoor Khan blatantly refused to work with executives such as Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor, whom Nasir Hussain wanted to play as they were “too big”.
