Fans caught the first look at the Cobra Kai star fits during Blue beetle‘small production in May 2022. The superhero suit quickly won praise from fans, though some compared its appearance to the MCU’s Iron Man.
Despite originally being headed for an HBO Max debut, Blue beetle is now set to hit the big screen in August, with marketing starting to kick in and a trailer on the way soon.
The new look at Blue Beetle’s DC Suit has been revealed
New art from DC’s Blue beetle recently surfaced online, revealing brand new looks at Xolo Maridueña’s superhero costume ahead of the upcoming August release.
The trade art showed the Blue Beetle in a stance ready for action with the superhero armor in full display.
Jaime Reyes becomes Blue Beetle and takes on the superhero costume after the college graduate finds the Scarab, an ancient piece of alien biotechnology. After the Beetle chooses the young man as his symbiotic host, he receives the Blue Beetle armor set and some extraordinary superpowers.
As such, a second piece of artwork shows a close-up of Blue Beetle’s mask, with the suit clearly etched with scarab-like designs to reflect his origins.
Another piece of art has the young superhero jumping in front of a vibrant and colorful cityscape – which is likely El Paso, as that is the usual home of Reyes’ Blue Beetle. This art looks similar to the original concept for the DC movie coming out in late 2021.
When will the Blue Beetle start marketing?
DC’s other summer 2023 movie, The lightning, debuted its first trailer in February during the Super Bowl, about four months before release. Following the same pattern, Blue beetle should debut its first trailer in April, keeping in line with the recent promise of footage coming rather soon.
With new art starting to emerge, fans can look forward Blue beetle marketing properly kicking off in the coming weeks on the way to the first trailer. This should be exciting for many since things have been rather quiet on the new DC film since production wrapped in July 2022.
Like everything from the old regime, Blue Beetle’s fate beyond his movie remains uncertain for now as the DCU charts its course for a reboot. Whether Jaime Reyes’ Blue Beetle has a future in the DCU will largely depend on how he debuts.
