Dharmendra remembers working with Bollywood’s first female comedian Tun Tun. shares fig

Recently, veteran actor Dharmendra descended the memory lane and shared a retrospective photo while remembering one of Uma Devi Khatri’s teammates, commonly known as Tun Tun. She was the first female comedian in Hindi cinema. Uma Devi Katri was a well-known name during the 60’s and people still remember her for her brilliant timing comedy.

Who is Tun Tun also known as Uma Devi Khatri?

“Tun Tun” was the name of the famous actress Uma Devi Khatri, who was the first female comedian of her decade. People still remember her for her iconic laugh and her amazing presence on the screen. In a career spanning five decades, Tun Tun has starred in 200 Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi films, sharing screen space with iconic comedians such as Bhagwan Dada, Agha, Sunder, Mukri, Dhumal, Johnny Walker and Keshto Mukherjee. Not only did she play in movies but she gave her voice to many songs and was a renowned playback singer. She had a special sweetness in her voice even though she did not have any formal music education, she sang about 45 songs in a row. She last appeared in Kasam Dhande Ki in 1990. Tun Tun’s name was coined by legendary actor Dilip Kumar. After the death of her husband, she distanced herself from the cinemas. Some of her famous works include “Aarpaar”, “Pyaasa”, “Mr. and Mrs. 55 ‘and’ Mome Ki Gudiya ‘. Tun Tun died at the age of 80 in 2004.

Dharmendra took his hand on social media and shared a retrospective photo where he seems to share a taste of the movie Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya and while sharing the post Dharmendra became nostalgic and wrote- “TunTun Ji, she was my favorite heroine. Fans who went to the comments section became extremely nostalgic and commented “It was a beautiful movie. Miss Tun Tun Ji”, while other users wrote “Cute post. Woh bhi kya Samay tha,” fans showed love for the post and flooded the section comments with heartfelt comments.

At Workfront, Dharmendra last appeared in the short film Dream Catcher and will later appear in films such as Apnea 2 and Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani
