From Ganapath to Thailaiver 170: Upcoming Films starring Amitabh Bachchan

It would be surprising if someone familiar with Bollywood was not familiar with Big B or Amitabh Bachchan. Born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad, he is widely recognized as one of the most remarkable and influential actors in the annals of Indian cinema, having graced the screen in more than 200 Indian films over several decades.

Bachchan’s career rose to prominence in the early 1970s with iconic roles in cinematic gems like Zanjeer and Sholay. His reputation rests on his commanding and adaptable acting skills, resulting in a plethora of accolades including National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards.

Among his most famous works are Deewar, Sholay, Don, Agneepath, Kabhie Kabhie and Black. He was also the respected host of the popular Indian TV show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, India’s rendition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Apart from his acting prowess, Amitabh Bachchan is a prominent figure in India, actively involved in various philanthropic and social endeavours. His sonorous voice and unique style have established him as a cultural icon in India and beyond.

Ganapath – A Hero Is Born

Directed by Vikas Bahl, Ganapath – A Hero Is Born is set in a futuristic dystopian society in 2070 AD. The film stars Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. Ganapath – A Hero Is Born is slated to hit the theaters on October 20, 2024.

Kalki 2898 AD

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD (aka Project K) is an epic sci-fi film set in a dystopian world. Produced by C. Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. The film stars a cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. It is reported to be India’s most expensive film and is slated to hit theaters in 2024.

Section 84


Amitabh Bachchan to star in Ribhu Dasgupta's court drama Section 84. The film marks the third collaboration between superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Ribhu Dasgupta after the critical success of Yudh (2014) & Te3n (2016). The film also stars Nimrat Kaur, Diana Penty and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.

Thalaivar 170

After more than 32 years, two of the biggest names in Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, are set to reunite on the silver screen in the upcoming film Thalaivar 170. This will be their first collaboration after appearing in films like Hum , Andhaa Kaanoon and Geraftaar. The film will be helmed by Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel and is said to be releasing next year.
