From Edmonton and High River to Calgary’s busy streets, HBO’s The last of us is steadily filming its way to the best part of Alberta. Their next stop? Canmore – and on this part of their tour they want you to have your 15 minutes!
“Canmore is going to look a lot like a post-apocalyptic Jackson from Wyoming! “HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ is coming to town and will be filmed in various downtown locations throughout November,” the Town of Canmore wrote on their website.
According to a recent statement, residents can expect to see “aesthetic changes and road closures around the downtown area” throughout November and were told to turn a blind eye to horses and some new and familiar faces.

Starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Narcos) and Bella Ramsay (Game of Thrones), The show, which is based on a video game of the same name, will follow Joel, a smuggler whose mission is to accompany a young girl across post-apocalyptic America.
It is expected to be one of the most expensive TV productions of all time, The last of us has directed some incredibly elaborate scenes across the countryside, so to say that we are excited to see what they are doing with the neighboring town of Banff is derogatory.
However, it is not even the anticipation of all that excites us the most!
The best part is that if you act fast, you could play extra on the show.
According to a post made by Keep Alberta Rolling on Facebook (which was brought to our attention by on Twitter), superfans aged 8 and over are encouraged to post a headshot – without selfies – to [email protected] Curiocity contacted Keep Alberta Rolling and this email address to see if the transmission call is still active but has not received a response.
For more information on road closures or what to expect next month, visit Canmore’s official website here.
Not in the immediate area? Do not be afraid – of rumored that filming will also continue in the Calgary area in and around Crescent Heights High School. Although this can not be confirmed at this time, it would make perfect sense given that in the coming weeks, roads along Center B Street at 13th Avenue NW are expected to close – but we will keep you informed as there is more information!
Remember, be respectful, be patient and keep your eye out! Who knows what they will do next!
