Here are the latest related future plans for Franchise After DOMINION

by Stewart Cole

Jurassic World: Dominion was released earlier this year to mixed reviews, though that did little to dampen interest in the threequel. The film ended up grossing just over $1 billion at the global box office, but with the trilogy now wrapping up, there are many question marks surrounding its future.

Doesn’t sound like core Jurassic Park the Jurassic World The cast will be back for another sequel, anyway, and Colin Trevorrow has even expressed interest in taking the franchise down the R-Rated horror route.

While time will tell what comes next, The wrap he reports that the insiders told them “Serious talks about greenlighting another ‘Jurassic’ movie haven’t started yet”. This is definitely a bit of a disappointing update, and one that suggests any decision going forward won’t be made until 2023 (or beyond).

However, Universal Pictures is a studio with few highly profitable franchises, so we’re sure they’ll look at it again Jurassic movies sooner rather than later.

Last month, Trevorrow stood up against him Jurassic World: Dominion touted as the final chapter of the franchise, making it clear that it hopes to continue telling stories in this world for years to come.

“I never knew this was the end of the franchise until I saw the marketing. These guys are brilliant at what they do, but to me I think it would be more clear if they said ‘The End of an Era’, as opposed to all that.” he said. “Because regardless of the cynical approach — of course they’re going to want to make more money, that was Jurassic World — a new dinosaur fan is born every day. Kids deserve these movies and young filmmakers grow up with these stories.”

Whether it’s a horror film, a post-apocalyptic adventure in a world overrun by dinosaurs, or something completely unexpected, we’re waiting for more Jurassic movies to be released. It’s a little surprising that a TV series hasn’t happened, though we’re sure Universal would rather focus on those box office hauls for now.

What are your hopes for the franchise moving forward?
