The end of an era is approaching for them Indiana Jones privilege. After playing the title archaeologist in four films and one episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles for four decades, this has been confirmed Indiana Jones 5 will be Harrison Ford’s last outing as Dr. Henry Jones Jr. However, after the arrival of this Movie release 2023sounds like Indiana Jones will head to Disney+ next.
According VarietyAccording to its sources, Disney is in the early stages of developing one Indiana Jones TV series that would be available exclusively on Disney+ subscribers. Mouse House is still looking for a writer to take on the project, so there are no plot details yet, including whether it will be a prequel or spinoff or in any way Indiana Jones 5. This is also one of the “multiple options” Disney is exploring to continue the franchise, which could also include more Indiana Jones movie theater or some other type of media work.
Assuming one Indiana Jones The series for Disney+ begins, as previously mentioned, this will be the second time that the franchise is represented on the small screen. The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles aired from March 4, 1992 to July 24, 1993, and was followed by four TV movies from 194 to 1996. Corey Carrier played Indy as a young boy, Sean Patrick Flanery played Indy in his younger years, and George Hall closed each episode in an elderly, eye-wearing Indy. Harrison Ford appeared as 50-year-old Indy in the books for the episode “Young Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues”.
Because Harrison Ford is hanging up the fedora and the whip, if it’s Indy who’s the focus of this hypothetical Disney+ series, then aside from the prequel route, another option is to hit the reboot button in that capacity. That is, we would follow along with a different Indiana Jones who has a similar life has a version of Harrison Ford, but is not responsible for the events from the movies and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. But as also mentioned, this show could easily be a spinoff that focuses on someone in Indy’s life. For example, Ke Huy Quan (who recently reunited with Harrison Ford) returned to acting earlier this year Everything Everywhere Simultaneouslyand already has a place on Disney+ via American born Chinese and Loki Season 2. Why not make a series following an adult Short Round who followed in his mentor’s footsteps and became an adventurous archaeologist?
It may be a long time before we know if Disney+ plans to move forward with one Indiana Jones series, let alone what it’s about. But as soon as this news comes, we will pass it along. In the meantime, Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on June 30, 2023 and Harrison Ford’s teammates include; Phoebe Waller-Bridge, John Rhys-Davies, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Antonio Banderas and Olivier Ritchers.
