Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer rom-com Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani now streaming on Prime Video. The duo’s sizzling on-screen chemistry translated well to the screen under the helm of director Karan Johar who returned to directing after seven years with this film. Now that the film is available online, he got his kids Roohi and Yash to watch it and they seemed to love it.
In a video shared on Instagran, Karan Johar’s kids were excitedly watching the movie when Yash says, “We are watching Dada’s new movie.” He captioned the post, “Have you watched it yet??”, as the kids enjoyed the “Tum Kya Mile’ song.
In an exclusive chat with Bollywood HungamaKaran Johar had told me Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the positive reactions were magnanimous. “But in this case, there is only love. I can not explain it. I’m kind of like, ‘Oh my God!’, and I don’t think any of my movies have gotten that kind of critical acclaim. And all of us filmmakers, honestly, I mean, as long as you don’t get the reviews, you say the reviews, it doesn’t matter. It’s just a defense mechanism that all the directors, cinematographers, producers, actors, we all say it’s okay, the audience is god. And that’s all very well, but on the inside, everyone’s looking for that critical validation, and they’re doing it right. It made me very happy. I read every line of every review and was like, “Wow, oh, even he liked it. She liked. He liked it “. I’m like, this is amazing. It has never happened to me. The film has also had a strong critical response, and I’m so excited that the insider aspects of the film are resonating. And also columns have been written about the era and subversive messages. Well, it’s not like I set out to make a film that has a broad message. I wanted it to come through the narrative of an entertainer. That was very critical, but I feel all things very strongly, but I felt that I didn’t want to make a film that preached. It was like I wanted it to happen very organically, which I think has been achieved,” he said.
