The crew behind an upcoming film shooting in the Thompson Nicola District is looking for local residents interested in working in film.
A meet and greet is being held in Kamloops today at the YKA Film Office on Tranquille Road at 7pm on Tuesday.
TNRD spokesman Colton Davies says the crew for Lupe Q and the Galactic Earthworms is looking to hire as many local film crew as possible ahead of filming in the area in August.
“Crews put out a public call here looking for casual, part-time, maybe another film crew that exists, in the Kamloops and Thompson Nicola area already,” Davies said.
“I don’t know the exact number of positions they’re looking for, but it’s certainly, as far as I know, significant.”
Davies says that at the meet and greet, director Javier Badillo will discuss the upcoming film and answer questions.
“You always hear about crew callouts or casting, but with these, you always get positions that are in front of the camera, but that, as far as I understand, is related to all areas of production, so it’s definitely a good opportunity. “
He says it will be a great opportunity for people in the Kamloops area.
“We don’t often see a public call for a meet and greet for a crew that’s going to be shooting a few months in advance, so it’s a great opportunity.”
Badillo is a writer, director and producer of Venezuelan and Canadian descent and his first feature film, titled Streets of Ithria, released in 2022 and filmed in the Kamloops area.
