Speculation is building MCU fandom about a potential Logan 2 movie with Hugh Jackman, which has many wondering if the new movie will be released in 2024.
Logan 2 Starring Hugh Jackman Teased For 2024 Release
A fan-made trailer sparks speculation that Disney and Marvel Studios are planning a 2017 sequel Loganwhich featured Hugh Jackman's most recent appearance as James Logan/Wolverine.
Coming from KH Studios YouTube channel, the trailer showed a meeting between Wolverine and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, with the popular mutant being brought back from the dead after Strange seeks him out for a meeting. The trailer also features footage of Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.
NEXT Loganits release in 2017, director James Mangold touched on his idea Logan 2 or a spin-off, narrative The Hollywood Reporter in October 2017 that was “just working on a script” for a spin-off with X-23.
After that, Mangold addressed the success fans have seen in Patty Jenkins Wonder woman in June 2017, with that film showing studios that existed “Be less scared with a female lead” THAT PERIOD:
“Bury [Jenkins]The film's success with this film further solidifies the studios have less to fear with a female lead. The more it hits home, it ends up giving me more room to turn around and say, “Well here we are with a female lead. This is unbelievable. And what are we going to do with her?” And here we are with it [the Laura script] right now, I'm dreaming.”
Unfortunately, Mangold shared with me Yahoo in 2019 that this spin-off would not happen, indicating that Marvel was focused on figuring out “Where will they go in the future” with Wolverine:
“I think he's probably – at least for the foreseeable future – gone, until I hear something different,” he revealed. With Hugh [Jackman] Going forward, I think they're going to be more interested in trying to figure out where they're going in the future with these characters in general and Wolverine in particular.”
He also expressed yes Variety in 2023 wished that the discussion of continuing the story would not end, understanding that Marvel was going to do as much as they could with the character after acquiring the rights to the X-Men:
“I can't say there's a part of me that wouldn't want to let it go. But there was always going to be another Wolverine. There could be a baby Wolverine and a cartoon Wolverine. As wet as they can get out of that rag, they'll try. I don't measure my success in a movie like 'Logan' by whether we finish the conversation. I'm done my conversation.”
As for the trailer itself, it can be debunked as fake.
The 74-second video combines footage of Jackman and the original Logan 2009 movie as well X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Also included are clips of more Multiversal stories from Marvel Studios Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Homeand Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessincluding introducing Patrick Stewart to the MCU.
Will Logan 2 ever happen?
At this point, Logan 2 doesn't seem to be on Marvel Studios' radar for development, which means it's definitely not coming out in 2024.
But thankfully, all hope is not lost for Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine, which is already confirmed to take place under the MCU umbrella when it brings James Logan back to the fore at Marvel Studios Deadpool 3.
Jackman is said to co-star Deadpool 3 alongside Reynolds, with this threequel giving the legacy star a huge place in the MCU the way fans have wanted for years.
This threequel is rumored to be part of a swan song run for Jackman, with many believing he will be done with Wolverine for good after he last appeared in Avengers: Secret Wars.
But while Logan 2 appears to be dead in the water, Jackman's first appearance in the MCU is already generating significant hype, especially with Deadpool 3 is the only Marvel Studios film to debut this year.
Logan now streaming on Disney+. Deadpool 3 It will then hit theaters on July 26.
