Love and Thunder Runtime reports make it Marvel’s shortest movie in years

by Stewart Cole

Thor: Love and Thunder is now available as the next Marvel Studios release film. As it turns out, it could be even the smallest studio movie in years. With tickets starting to sell out in a matter of hours, two of the world’s largest theatrical chains have now recorded the film in just under two hours.

The film’s introduction to AMC and Cineworld gave the fourth Thor run one hour and 59 minutes, making it the shortest release of Marvel Studios from 2018 Ant-Man and the Wasp. The Ant man The sequel lasted 118 minutes while Love and Thunder dates to 119 minutes.

It also happens to fall in the lower half of the MCU, with just six franchise movies having shorter run times – Ant-Man and the Wasp (118 minutes), Ant man (117 minutes), Doctor Strange (115 minutes), Thor: The Dark World (112 minutes) and The incredible Hulk (112 minutes).

Despite its light release time, fans can expect a really awful movie, with director Taika Waititi claiming it to be the craziest thing ever.

“And this is a wrapper Thor: Love and Thunder,“Waititi shared in a celebratory post on Instagram shortly after the main photo was completed last year.” Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the movie landscape forever. And then it’s me too [Chris Hemsworth] who are too cool to care about anything other than making movies that bring people absolute joy. “Okay, I do not look cool, I know that.”

The director then added: “This movie is the craziest thing I have ever done and it is my honor to pull my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”

Taika Waititi, directed Thor: Ragnarokreturns to directing Thor: Love and Thunder. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum and Vin Diesel.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8.
