Thor: Love and Thunder was a first for the MCU, but is it also a last for the God of Thunder? What does the future hold?
The Space Viking of the Marvel Cinematic Universe returned to the silver screen for his fourth solo offering when Thor: Love and Thunder hit screens. Having already made a splash at the box office, there was a lot of intrigue surrounding it, especially since it’s the first current film to star one of the MCU’s original Phase Four heroes.
Since Chris Hemsworth’s Thor already has three films to his name, this makes him the first of the Marvel Studios superheroes to head into his fourth standalone film. Indeed, a record for the God of Thunder, but does he intend to continue that record for another bid?
Love and Thunder it was only for Thor to figure out his place in the world after so much loss, but what’s next for the Avenger?

Is Thor: Love and Thunder the last Thor movie?
If you’re wondering what the future holds for the God of Thunder, you’ll probably want to know if he’s coming back for another movie. Thor: Love and Thunder is a record for solo hero movies, serving as the fourth standalone film for Chris Hemsworth’s hero, but is it also the last in the franchise?
At present, it is unknown whether Thor: Love and Thunder will be the last film in the Thor film series, but there’s definitely room for another. Without giving anything away, like most MCU movies, Thor 4 it leaves the story open in a way that writers could come back to in the future. And speaking of the future, we know we haven’t seen the last of the hero…
Is Thor 5 happening?
While it is yet to be confirmed if Thor 5 will actually happen, Marvel Studios has confirmed that the God of Thunder will return in some future installment of the MCU as a post-credits blurb says “Thor will return.”
We don’t know how, we don’t know when. but it goes without saying that the most likely option would be a fifth film – particularly since it will take some time for a new Avengers film to begin. Then again, maybe the wait is exactly what Marvel Studios wants.
Of course, these are all just theories and it’s best to wait until Marvel Studios confirms when the God of Thunder will return. For now, though, we can be sure he’ll be back in some capacity.
