Marvel is not the only studio immersed in the chaos of multiverse. A24’s next big screen adventure will take viewers to infinite worlds. And he will do it with a hero that can be left behind by people of all dimensions, Michelle Yeoh. The first trailer for All Everywhere Simultaneously introduces the unique hope for the whole universe and its many spheres. A woman whose existence goes far beyond the worldly life she leads in a single reality.
This trailer brings out the great vibes of Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry. And that’s always good. This first look at the film combines wonderful visuals (some of these scenes are works of art) with a unique perception of a classic cinematic troparion. Exploring who we could be in another life is not a new idea. Doing it while living your own infinite existence and drawing on each of these lives is a spin that already makes this entry into the genre feel different. His veteran star definitely does too.
But the film actually comes from the script and co-direction of “Daniels”. This is A24’s tender term for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The film follows “an elderly Chinese immigrant” who is on the most incredible journey. She learns that “alone she can save the world by exploring other universes related to the lives she could have lived.” Good luck to all the alternate Michelle Yeohs in the multiverse. It will be difficult to reach the top of the career that has led to this.
The film also stars Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr. and James Hong. Along with Jamie Lee Curtis and that amazing wig. All these googly eyes are playing with themselves.
All Everywhere Simultaneously coming to theaters next spring, March 25, 2022. Well, at least in that dimension. Check your multiverse schedule for when it will reach your world.
