Fans of Judge Dredd enjoy a special treat this holiday season. The latest issue of Rebellion’s 2000AD magazine presents a very incredible crossover of pop culture, as the comic book version of Dredd meets its cinematic counterparts.
True, this new story combines the classic Judge Dredd with the versions played by Sylvester Stallone in the 1995 film Judge Dredd and Karl Urban in the 2012 Dredd. Even Dredd is entering the multiverse game now.
IGN can make its debut exclusively on one page of this upcoming story, which includes all three versions of the iconic legislator that intersect for the first time. See the following:
This strange crossover will be explored in a new 11-page story in the upcoming Christmas edition of 2000 AD. The story was written by Ken Niemand and designed by Richard Elson. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Stallone and Urban Dredds
2000AD subscribers will receive this issue on Saturday 11 December and it will be available for individual online marketplace and through the 2000AD application on Thursday 16 December.
It’s particularly nice to see Urban’s Dredd back in action, given the lack of recent news on the Dredd sequel front. The 2012 film went on to become a comic book in 2014, renewing calls for a full sequel. In 2017 we learned of a TV series called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is in the works, with Urban in talks to reprise his role. Unfortunately, not much has been heard since then, other than a look at some early art of the idea.
