Moviegoers were surprised when the Duke of Sussex appeared at the premiere of his new Netflix documentary.
In a Reel shared by bonnie_pham on Instagram, Prince Harry, 38, can be seen talking to attendees at a premiere of Heart of Invictus at a theater in Chula Vista in San Diego County, California on Monday night.
“When it’s a random Monday night and Prince Harry crashes the premiere of his show in random Chula Vista,” the video was captioned.
The viewer also shared a selfie she and her friend took with the Duke at the end of the screening.
“What a show, what a man, what a special surprise! #heartofinvictus,” he commented.
HELLO! understands that Netflix was planning US screenings for this week that Archewell collaborated on and that Duke wanted to surprise audiences and spend time with veterans in San Diego. Harry received the warmest reception at the screening, with audience members screaming and cheering when he introduced the film as a surprise.
The father-of-two also spent time taking pictures with everyone who came up to him after the screening to tell him how much they loved the documentary – and him.
In June, Harry gave an impassioned speech at the 2023 Warrior Games in San Diego.
The sporting event inspired the Duke to create his own – the Invictus Games – after his first appearance in 2013.

Harry’s Heart Of Invictus The Netflix documentary, filmed by a camera crew that covered Harry and Meghan’s visit to the 2022 games in the Netherlands, will be shown on August 30.
A trailer released earlier this month shows Harry addressing the camera saying: “The Games don’t focus on what’s causing the injury, but really on recovery and how to rejoin a community.”
Harry is executive producing and the show is part of the Sussexes’ multi-million pound deal with Netflix – with their main production so far being last year’s Harry & Meghan documentary.
The series, which was first announced more than two years ago, is made by Harry and Meghan’s company Archewell Productions.
Directed by Orlando von Einsiedel and produced by Joanna Natasegara, who collaborated on the Oscar-winning short The White Helmets.
The Duke will travel to Germany next month to attend the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf. Meghan will miss the opening ceremony but will join her husband shortly after the tournament begins, a spokesperson confirmed last week.
Harry will also fly to the UK for the WellChild Awards, in association with GSK, on September 7.
