Junglee Pictures’ Badhaai Do is one of the few films that not only managed to mark a spectacular start after the third wave despite the 50% capacity, but also provided rich content that was appreciated by the audience, the fraternity as well as the LGBTQIA community.

Celebrating Pride Month, Badhaai Do screened at the largest LGBTQIA + film festival in South Asia, the Kashish-Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, to empower the community. The film is hailed for its realistic portrayal of the LGBTQIA community and characters. “Badhaai Do” is perhaps the most successful film in India, focusing on LGBTQIA history.
Speaking about the film festival, director Harshavardhan Kulkarni says “It is an honor and a privilege to be able to screen our film at KASHISH 2022, the largest LGBTQ + film festival in South Asia. We are humiliated that the film was accepted with so much love and is shown on this wonderful platform in the “month of pride”. We hope our film can help create a world where love is love – nothing more, nothing less. “
Adding to that, the protagonist Rajkummar Rao says “I am grateful that the audience had such a good response to our film. “Now that Pride Month is here, celebrating it on a platform like KASHISH with a movie so close to me is really moving.”
The festival will screen approximately 194+ films from 53 countries at the Liberty Cinema from 1 to 5 June. KASHISH is the first Indian LGBTQ + festival to be held with the approval of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. KASHISH, founded in 2010, has become an important medium for the exhibition, production and distribution of LGBTQIA + films. It has been voted one of the top 5 LGBT film festivals in the world, as well as one of the top 5 film festivals in India.
The screening was attended by Rajkummar Rao, Chum Darang, Harshavardhan Kulkarni and Junglee Pictures CEO Amrita Pandey along with the crew / team.
Junglee Pictures’ Badhaai Do Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, written by Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary. The film was released in theaters on February 11 and is being distributed worldwide by Zee Studios.
