Remember when you last saw a movie on the streets of Oxford?

Scenic locations in the city are often used for high-budget movie scenes or TV shows. Here we see some photos from the shooting in recent years.

Although the coronavirus pandemic has put many activities on hold, filming has not seemed to be too late and scenes have been filmed in the city center on many occasions over the past two years.

While buyers and passers-by in the city are more accustomed to seeing actors from Inspector Morse, Lewis or Endeavor, filming has also been done for multi-million pound blockbusters or series for streaming services such as Amazon and Netflix.

In January 2020, filming took place at the University of Oxford Museum of Natural History on Parks Road for a Marvel movie entitled The Eternals starring Angelina Jolie.

There were more shootings for other productions during 2021.

Scenes for the Amazon Citadel drama starring Richard Madden were filmed at the Rewley Road fire station in March.

Later that month, film crews returned to the city for the Netflix drama Anatomy of a Scandal.

The Bodleian Library – especially around the Radcliffe Camera – are popular shooting locations.

Many scenes for the drama Sky One A Discovery of Witches, starring Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer, have been filmed in and around Bodleian.
