Deadpool 3

While the actual date the Merc with a Mouth sequel resumes production is unknown, all indications are that filming will be imminent. When the Deadpool 3 Production halted last July, shortly after it was revealed that Hugh Jackman’s Logan would join Ryan Reynolds’ superhero in Wolverine’s iconic yellow and blue suit, with the film reportedly about halfway through production. And given the state of other Marvel movies slated for next year that hadn’t even gone in front of cameras when the strikes hit, that’s what Deadpool 3 a particularly important priority for Marvel Studios. Which is why it’s pretty reassuring that Ryan Reynolds posted the following message on Instagram earlier Thursday morning. With an image of his dog in a proper Deadpool onesie, Reynolds promised, “Coming with the movie, Summer 2024.” So we guess it’s time for maximum effort.

Beetlejuice 2

Another film that is sure to make its summer 2023 release date a return to the cameras is Tim Burton’s much talked about Beetlejuice 2. According Deadline, the sequel to Ghostest with the Most incredibly only had two days of shooting before the SAG-AFTRA strike brought things to a halt. With so little time left, and Warner Bros. no doubt eager to meet their September 6, 2024 release date (if not perhaps sooner), it seems likely that production will wrap soon. This seems all the more fitting since in addition to featuring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder returning to their iconic roles, the film also features Jenna Ortega, who has several other projects going into production soon, including one below….

Gladiator 2

A film that was already a month into production when the SAG-AFTRA strike stalled last July, Ridley Scott’s rumored sequel Gladiator is actually happening and, most notably, has refused to move from its November 22, 2024 release date. Additionally, the film’s sets in Morocco, Malta, and the United Kingdom are still in place, and production is expected to resume in as soon as possible. The film sees Scott follow up on the 2000 Oscar-winning film by following the gladiator exploits of Lucius, nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s dastardly Emperor Commodus in the original film. Next, the now-adult would-be emperor is played by his Paul Mescal After the SUN. The film also stars Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen reprising her role as Lucilla.

Poison 3

Unlike the films above, this superhero sequel hadn’t even started rolling when the SAG-AFTRA strike began. However, Sony Pictures showed confidence that the strike was coming to an end when they announced that they would be moving Poison 3 to the November 8, 2024 release date just a few days ago—in other words less than a year from now. So expect things to start moving quickly. The film features Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock/Venom and has also signed Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor to appear. It will also be the third Venom film with a new director, in this case Kelly Marcel making her directorial debut after working on the scripts for the first two Venom films, as well as Fifty Shades of Gray.
