2023 turned out to be a great year for the Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey. His movie 12th failure, emerged as the underdog at the box office. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial which was hardly in the limelight before its release, gained immense love and affection through word of mouth after its theatrical release. The 12th fail released on 27 October 2023, dubbed as the immortal hit of the year, collected a whopping 62 crore worldwide. The film was made on a budget of 20 crores. 12th failed to launch on this OTT platform
The film which is inspired by the real life story of Manoj Kumar who became an IAS (Indian Police Service) officer after overcoming poverty has won everyone’s hearts. There were instances when moviegoers were moved to tears, especially when Chambal (Vikrant Massey) finally cleared the IAS exam. Vikrant has also been appreciated for his nuanced performance and the way he has carried the entire film on his shoulder. After winning hearts in theaters, the film is all set to release on OTT. Gossip tipsters suggest that 12th Fail might be released on Zee 5. Although there is no confirmation on the release date of the film, it is speculated that around January 2024 the OTT platform will release the film.

Vikrant Massey’s 12th flop proves that content is indeed king
This has been a debate for the ages whether content is really king or movies only sell when they have big stars. Most of the times we have seen how movies with big stars work at the box office, even if the story is rubbish. This definitely discourages good filmmakers who have strong stories but no big names in their films. However, over the years we must say that there has been a slight change in this. Audiences are now a bit more inclined towards content driven stories and the success of 12th Failure further proves it.
