Recently, she was in the news when she was seen telling a grandpa “I hope you fall” which had sparked strong reactions from many celebrities. During a Mumbai Literature Festival’s ‘The Failure of Literature to Inform Current Cinema’ session, Jaya Bachchan revealed that she watched Happy New Year because of her son Abhishek Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan was heard saying, “I told him he’s a great actor if he can act silly in front of the camera like that. I can’t be a part of what is done in films these days and hence I don’t do films anymore. I couldn’t do it. But he did it so freely. I was impressed. Of course, I went and told the producer and the lead actor of the film that I have never seen a more stupid film than this one.’
Jaya Bachchan further revealed that Shah Rukh Khan was ready with his witty reply and said, “He was so quick… amazing person. He said, “Jaya aunty, no more stupid than Amar Akbar Antony.” I said it could be fun. Amar Akbar Anthony is a film I love to watch…if you want to laugh, you don’t take back home what you watched in the theatre.”
Meanwhile, it was mentioned after Jaya BachchanHis Happy New Year comment to Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai reportedly tried to apologize to the actor. However, he later dismissed the reports on Twitter and said: “I haven’t read funnier, manufactured journalism lately.”
