Will the new Black Clover movie have an original story?

Black clover has a new movie on the way after the end of the anime last year, but will it have an original story? Yuki Tabata’s original manga series continues with new chapters to this day (it even celebrates its 7th anniversary in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine), but the anime series for the series ended with 170 episodes under its belt. It was announced shortly after that the anime would continue with a brand new movie. But unfortunately, there were very few specific details about what to expect from the new anime project.

The official title of the project has not yet been revealed, the proper production staff has not yet been confirmed and the few things we have learned are that Yuki Tabata serves as the lead supervisor and provides the character designs with a targeted release. time in 2023. The special trailer released for Black clover ‘The 7th anniversary includes some brand new cartoon shots that we did not see in the TV series. If this is our first look at the new movie in motion, it does clarify a few things about what to expect. We can see Yami, Yuno and Asta in action. If these are shots from the movie in some way, and not just a special animation celebrating the series, then it means that this new project will take place long before the end of the TV anime. The TV anime ended in a major cliffhanger that continues to be watched in recent manga chapters and sets in motion some historic beats.

Yami is captured by the enemy, Asta is trained to unlock a new force and each of the other characters gets their own boost for the big battle that follows. The TV series ends with the promise of a two-day training period before the match with Spade Kingdom, so it may not leave enough space for a new story. It’s perfectly possible, but manga fans have already seen how these two training days are crucial to the story that follows the end of the anime.

The movie could try to adapt the manga’s Spade Kingdom Raid, but it has already taken so long (and is full of so many interesting battles) that it could be a full anime season on its own. It may be too much to try to cram into some kind of film, so an original story would be a smart choice for its feature film debut. And if this’s somehow the only movie we’ve ever seen, then it might not be a bad idea to go out without anything to do with it.
