4 new movies this week, including “Turning Red” and “The Adam Project”

Wondering what’s new movies this week? Pixar returns with the animation It turns red. And the team that brought you Free Press has a new movie The work of Adam starring Ryan Reynolds.

Following is a summary of the new movies this week that will be released in cinemas, as well as those that will be released on major streaming platforms.

New movies coming out this week 7 – 13 March 2022

Turns red (2022)

Assessment: PG

Release date: Premiere on the Disney + platform on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Summary: Τhinting Red This is Mei Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang), a 13-year-old who always has her best friends by her side and unfortunately, her authoritarian mother, Ming (voiced by Sandra Oh), watches her every move. It’s pretty bad to be a teenager, but suddenly, Mei Lee turns into a giant Red Panda every time she gets excited. What should a girl do?

What to watch out for: This is Sandra Oh’s fourth appearance in a Disney movie. Her last appearance was in the 2021 animated film Raya and the Last Dragonwhere he expressed the character Virana.

Word on the roadt: The film is the first feature film directed by Domee Shi to win an Oscar for Pixar short film Bao in 2019.

My opinion: I love Pixar movies and I look forward to seeing them.

The Adam Project (2022)

Assessment: PG-13

Release date: Premiere on the Netflix platform on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Summary: In The work of Adama time-traveling pilot (Ryan Reynolds) works with his 12-year-old younger self (Walker Scobell) and his father (Mark Ruffalo) to stop time travel and save the Earth from disaster.

What to watch out for: It’s from the same team that brought you the 2021 movie Free Press.

Word on the road: Excellent second cast includes Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener, Jennifer Garner and Alex Mallari Jr.

My opinion: Every movie that uses the Boston Foreplay / Long Time song in its trailer is a must see movie.

All my friends hate me

All my friends hate me (2021)

Assessment: Ρ

Release date: In selected cinemas on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Summary: All my friends hate me tells the story of Pete (Tom Stourton), who reluctantly goes on a birthday weekend trip with his old crew. Soon, Pete notices that his friends are slowly turning against him. Is he being punished, paranoid, or is this some kind of sick revenge for something he did in the past?

What to watch out for: The screenplay is co-written by Tom Stourton, who stars as Pete. Stourton is best known for his portrayal of Duncan in the television series Thomas & Friends.

Word on the road: The film was a success at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

My opinion: I love Georgina Campbell, who plays one of Pete’s “friends” in the movie. Campbell has been my favorite since she played DC Katie Harford in the TV series Wide Church.

Tyson's Run

Tyson’s Run (2022)

Assessment: PG

Release date: In selected cinemas on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Summary: Tyson’s Run is about Tyson (Major Dodson), a teenager with autism who, until now, was studying at home with his mother (Amy Smart). He decides to go to high school where his father (Rory Cochran) is a football coach. To try to be close to his father and with the help of a classmate (Layla Felder) and a professional runner (Barkhad Abdi), Tyson decides to run a marathon. It’s a decision that will change Tyson and his family forever.

What to watch out for: The film is by filmmaker Kim Bass, creator of the TV show Sister, sisterand Kenan & Kel.

Word on the road: Major Dodson is best known for his role as Sam Anderson in the hit TV series The Walking Dead.

My opinion: It ‘s always exciting to see Barkhad Abdi, the Oscar nominee actor (Captain Phillips), on the screen.
