“I have sisters”, Priyanka Gandhi remembers the iconic film dialogues to face the critics at UP

Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recalled the iconic dialogue from the Bollywood movie “Deewar” on Wednesday to counter criticism that her party had lost its base in the Uttar Pradesh polling station, saying, “Mere Paas Behen Hai »(I have a sister).

In a video uploaded by the congressional secretary general on her twitter handle, a journalist appears to be responding to comments from rival parties that Congress was talking about women at its rallies, as it had no basis in Uttar Pradesh.

In it, he asks the reporter if he has heard the dialogue from Deewar in which Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor played brothers.

“Amitabh says to Shashi Kapoor, ‘only paas gaadi hai, mere paas bangla hai, yeh hai, woh hai, toh Shashi Kapoor ne kaha, mere paas maa hai (I have a car, I have a bungalow… so says Shashi Kapoor, I have a mother).

“Toh main keh rahin hun, mere paas behen hai (I have a sister),” Priyanka said in an obvious reference to Uttar Pradesh women.

“I have sisters; the sisters will bring about change in politics. “#ladki hoon lad kontakti hoon”, she wrote her tweet in Hindi.

Congress has already announced a 40 percent reservation for women candidates in the 2022 polls in Uttar Pradesh.

On Tuesday, Priyanka said that the Prime Minister’s program in Prayagraj for the empowerment of women showed that Modi had bowed before them and that the unity of the brothers would lead to a revolution.

Priyanka, who also heads Congress for Uttar Pradesh, had earlier published the party’s election manifesto for women entitled “Shakti Vidhan”.
