Mumbai financial crime police have arrested Bollywood filmmaker Parag Sanghvi, 49, in another fraud case on Monday. He was arrested for allegedly cheating buyers of apartments over ₹ 10 crores.
About 15 people who invested in a development project neither got their apartments nor received any refunds. Sanghvi, one of the company’s directors, used some of the money for personal gain, police said.
According to police, Kamla Landmark Group partners Kamlaksmi Developers LLP Jitendra Jain, Jiendra Jain and Ketan Shah had received 90 3.90 crores from complainant Purshottam Bijlani for two apartments in the company’s Kamla Iris project in Model Town, Seven Bungalow in Andheri (W) from 2010 -2013. The project was actually by Kamla Shiv Developers, but the complaint was misplaced, police said.
After the complaint failed to receive an apartment or a refund, a violation was reported to the Versova police station in 2018 and the investigation was transferred to the EOW. During the investigation, 15 people who had been deceived in a similar way appeared,
Shah and Jain were arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, Sanghvi was a 50% partner in Kamla Shiv Developer while the remaining 50% was a partner in Kamal Landmark Construction Company.
Sanghvi, who resigned from the company in 2013, reportedly received 80 4.80 crores in the Kamla Shiv Developer account, which officials consider a crime. Some of the money Sanghvi used to buy an apartment, police said.
Sanghvi, who was arraigned in court on Monday, was remanded in custody for one day, his lawyer Adv Saurabh Ghagh and Divya Bhatia said. FIR.
Last week the EOW had arrested Sanghvi for the alleged fraud case of 13.74 crore Rs. Sanghvi is known for financing and distributing films produced by films such as – Partner, Bhoot Returns and The Attacks of 26/11.
