Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, who is currently promoting his upcoming film Kutteyhas expressed his opinion on the ongoing controversies surrounding the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathan. For the unversed, the film has become the target of many outfits due to the saffron swimsuit worn by Deepika Padukone in “Besharam Rang” song. It created an uproar and the CBFC has deleted certain lyrics and scenes from the song as well.
Arjun Kapoor on Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan controversy: ‘We as artistes have to do what the film demands’
I’m referring to Pathan, Arjun Kapoor told India Today, “I think the fact that we’re talking about it will give him an undue advantage at this point. We have to trust our censor board and central government as they work together. I think everyone has a right to an opinion in a democracy, but we as artists have to do what the film demands and we have to stick to that authenticity. I don’t think we need get involved in a question that gives undue importance to things that create unnecessary banter and chatter.’
“Our job should always be to do what’s necessary for the film and then give the film to the people who can decide what offends them and what doesn’t. I think we’ve been following this for a long time. Every film that is made has to follow a process, even if our film is no exception. We just have to trust the process and the rules in a democracy,” he added.
On the work front, Pathan is set to hit theaters on January 25, 2023.
In the meantime, Kuttey touted as a caper that also has great actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tabu, Kumud Mishra and Radhika Madan. The film has been directed by debutant Aasmaan Bhardwaj, who is the son of director Vishal Bhardwaj. Released on January 13, 2023.
