Ever since the release of Atrangi Re starring Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush shortly before the lockdown, it has become one of Bollywood’s most anticipated films. The trailer that was released did not disappoint and Aanand L Rai managed to revive his colorful universe. But the biggest touch is on the title of the movie and you knew it was not available when Rai approached the dashboard for it. A superstar had already registered it and he was none other than Salman Khan.
For the inexplicable, the production companies record catchy movie titles, many times even before they have a story about it. Following the same practice, Salman Khan had registered the title Atrangi Re and was not available when Aanand L Rai approached the film association. But now Rai reveals that Khan was indeed kind enough to give up the title and let him use it. But Salman had a condition. Read below to find out everything you need to know about it.
Speaking to ETimes, Aanand L Rai talked about the time he went to the league for the title of Sara Ali Khan and star Dhanush. He was surprised that no one ever recorded Raksha Bandhan but the other was captured. I moved from one of my most complex films, ‘Atrangi Re’ to the simplest story of a brother and sister bond, ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
Aanand L Rai added, “But there is an interesting story about the time I went to the film association to get both titles. I did not get “Atrangi Re”, but when I asked for the title of “Raksha Bandhan”, I forgot to try a story on the subject, no one had even registered the title. “
Atrangi Re director further revealed how Salman Khan let him use the title, but on one condition. He said: “Salman Bhai had registered the title with his production company, but he gave it to me on one condition. He told his associates to give the title rights only if I direct the film, otherwise they would not let her go “.
Atrangi Re launches on Disney + Hotstar on December 24th.
