The latest film by Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui rose on Sunday, collecting ₹5.91 crore. The rise pushed the film collection to its first weekend in ₹14.53 crore.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, opened in cinemas last week. In the film, Ayushmann plays a bodybuilder from Chandigarh, while Vaani Kapoor plays a trans woman.

During the release of the Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui trailer, Ayushmann said: “This is very special to me because it’s two years from now. I feel like this is my first movie, my first release. I’m getting these butterflies. “I would like to thank Abhishek sir for his vision and Vaani Kapoor for the revelation in the film. It is an extremely unique script we have. I would like to thank the audience for their support of the theaters.”
The film’s review in the Hindustan Times wrote: “Abhishek shows immense maturity, sensitivity and self-control while dealing with the story of a trans woman and showing it on screen with respect. Something that our society has not yet accepted, the film tries to break away from these stereotypes but not based on clichés. “There is an unusual thought with a romantic story that has layers of passion, deception, denial, dilemma and acceptance.”
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, released on December 10, was created from Bhushan Kumar T series in collaboration with Pragya Kapoor Guy In the Sky Pictures.
