Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, opened in cinemas last week. In the film, Ayushmann plays a bodybuilder from Chandigarh, while Vaani Kapoor plays a trans woman.

During the release of the Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui trailer, Ayushmann said: “This is very special to me because it’s two years from now. I feel like this is my first movie, my first release. The film’s review in the Hindustan Times wrote: “Abhishek shows immense maturity, sensitivity and self-control while dealing with the story of a trans woman and showing it on screen with respect. Something that our society has not yet accepted, the film tries to break away from these stereotypes but not based on clichés. “There is an unusual thought with a romantic story that has layers of passion, deception, denial, dilemma and acceptance.”
