Kabir Khan directed a sports drama 83 is set to hit the silver screens on December 24, 2021. The film is based on the historic victory of the India Team during the 1983 World Cup and stars Ranveer Singh as Captain Kapil Dev.
The film is co-produced by producer Sajid Nadiadwala with Madhu Mantena and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment. Two years ago producer Sajid Nadiadwala had an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama and expressed how special the film is to him.
Sajid said, “We were in college at the time (1983 World Cup). So 83 played all those people who were there. It changed the meaning of sport in India. So we were always part of it and we remember how we danced. We could hear the Zimbabwean match and the “lost” sound and these 175 runs. There was a great feeling and then we realized that BCCI and the big thing and that every cricketer was honored, it was getting bigger, so somewhere we had forgotten 83, we should know “.
He added, “In the past, when it came to it, everyone was holding their head high. But somewhere there was how the World Cup came about. I also came very late and I was eager to be a part of this movie. When someone dug it out and said what we make 83 and suddenly people realized it was the biggest story to be told. And the best thing in the world is Kabir Khan and his hard work. “The way it works meticulously, this movie needed someone like that because the way they make it is a very tedious movie and it was there.”
