Director Karan Johar is always making headlines. While he may have been enjoying his abundant success Brahmastrawhich was produced by Dharma Productions, he is also working on the post-production of his next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. But earlier this week, the filmmaker took to Twitter to announce that he is leaving the platform for now. Talking to you Bollywood Hungama recently, the director spoke at length about his career, social media and more.

In the rapid fire segment, when asked what he would like to quit – social media or brands, Karan Johar immediately responded by saying, “Quit social media.” When asked if she has a fake account to stalk celebrities, she said with a laugh: “No… I follow them from my real account. I have no finsta.”
Earlier this week, Karan Johar quit Twitter. His tweet read: “Only making room for more positive action and this is the first step towards that. Goodbye Twitter!”
The pandemic in 2020 saw an increase in negativity and trolling of Bollywood movies and celebrities. Bigwigs have been called out for nepotism and ganging up on outsiders, and many issues have led to many being brutally ripped apart on social media. Filmmaker Karan Johar was one of the names, who was at the end of it all. He said before Bollywood Hungama, “Bollywood went through a very tough time with all the trolling and bashing going on. It wasn’t a good time. In particular, I felt like I was right at the center of so much negativity. It was something I never imagined. I felt that so much was said and written that was unfair.”
He added, “However, someone had to keep the chin up and move on. Because at the end of the day, I’m accountable to my company, my mom, and my family. I just felt like I had to get stronger and take everything in my stride. Being resilient was very important at that time. It was so unnecessary and I’m glad we could move past it and focus on work. That’s what I did. I put all my thoughts into the work zone. Maybe not all of them came out stronger people, but I would like to say that there were many.”
On the professional front, Karan Johar’s next directorial is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is expected to release in 2023. The director is also planning to direct an action entertainer with hopes to start shooting in April 2023.
