The super-powered blockbuster marks the first solo film for DC’s Scarlet Speedster, possibly adapting arguably the character’s most famous comic book story.
The film is set to introduce a lot of news to the DCU, including Michael Keaton’s Batman, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, and even a second Flash. But with the upcoming remake of the franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran;it may be all for nothing.
However, despite this possibly serving as an “erasure” of the DCU’s pastthe blockbuster is still coming, and with it, a new look for its title hero.
A first look at Flash
Almost six months since The lightningAfter its release, fans got their first real look at Ezra Miller’s new super suit that will be seen in the film.
It was revealed in a The lightning-Themed Bluetooth speaker (via Michael Villareal on Twitter) now available at Walmart, Miller’s Barry Allen can be seen in new Flash armor.
This detailed look marks the first in-depth look at the suit from the official merchandise, showcasing the Scarlet Speedster’s new red and gold outfit.
The costume features the character’s iconic lightning bolts and helmet, with glowing energy veins throughout.
While the last few looks for Miller’s DCU hero have been more rigid and armor-based, this suit looks more like a neoprene diving suit, likely offering more flexibility than we’ve seen before.
Breaking down the new Flash Suit
After years of seeing Ezra Miller sporting armor plates, this is an interesting direction for the team back The lightning to cast the gaze of this hero.
Rather than a battle-ready look, this new suit looks more like one ready to traverse the Multiverse (which will be a key part of the movie). In terms of the materials themselves, this new outfit looks like the suit Shazam by Zachary Levi wears in the DC movies.
As far as fans know, Ezra Miller won’t be facing a beastly villain like Steppenwolf in the lightning, so something a little more streamlined seems right for this movie.
While not a perfect facsimile, this look looks like a blend of two particular ones Shine looks from the past: Wally West’s New 52 costume and the Injustice 2 Shine.
Of course, there are differences, but the glowing veins feel very Wally West. The headpiece is different and no blue is used, but those pulsing lines of energy scream New 52 Flash.
Both the helmet and the overall silhouette scream Injustice 2. The material here matches that of the famous DC fighting franchise almost perfectly. And the glittering gold of the lightning bolts on the helmet looks an awful lot like what is seen in this The lightning goods shot.
It’s clearly unique, but seems to draw inspiration from the character’s comic book past.
This new look of Barry Allen can be seen when The lightning hits theaters June 16, 2023.
