After Ek Villain Returns, now John Abraham is all set to mesmerize the audience once again with his next film. He dropped a video, announcing his first collaboration with producer Dinesh Vijan for the upcoming action thriller ‘Tehran’. Taking to Instagram, the ‘Housefull 2’ actor shared an announcement video, which he captioned, “Lights Camera Time for some ACTION! #Tehran shooting begins!” The upcoming film is directed by Arun Gopalan and is inspired by true events. The story is written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma. The ‘Race 2’ actor started shooting for this action thriller today on July 11.
In the powerful announcement video of the film, John Abraham sporting a serious expression. “Tehran” is a collaboration between Maddock Films and Bake My Cake Films. Apart from Vijan, Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell are listed as producers of the film.
Talking about the film, he said in an interview in April, “It’s very much Madras Café meets Batla House with Parmanu. It’s in the geopolitical space and I’m so excited to start shooting for Tehran. I would probably be the first Indian actor to shoot in Iran. I’m very excited to be there.”
He added that his mom has 21 cousins in Iran and therefore will be taking her to the shoot. “If you’re invested in the Russia-Ukraine crisis, ask yourself what China is doing, what Iran is doing, where Palestine fits into this whole thing, Tehran is all about it. It’s an amazing film.”

Talking about the movie, Tehran, a few months ago, John shared a poster of his upcoming movie. Along with the poster, he also revealed the release date of the film, which is slated to hit the silver screens on January 26, 2023. Check out the poster:
For the uninitiated, John Abraham is certainly one of the busiest actors around, with several films lined up in his kitty. They were last seen in Lakshya Raj Anand’s action-thriller Attack: Part 1 together Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh, with Prakash Raj and Ratna Pathak Shah in supporting roles.
