SS Rajamouli’s latest movie RRR turned out to be a worldwide blockbuster and also won the Academy Award for Best Song for the dance track”Naatu Naatu.’ Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the film was set against the backdrop of India’s independence from the British and told the fictional story of two Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. According to reports, the director’s next film is another large-scale film, this time inspired by the life of Lord Hanuman with superstar Mahesh Babu playing the lead character.
But apart from directing this film, it looks like Rajamaouli will also be producing another bigger epic. According to a report in online publication Deadline, the director will helm a film based on the birth and rise of Indian cinema. The report also stated that the film will be a “magnum opus telling” and will be told “on a massive scale and canvas”.
Over a decade ago, a Marathi film titled Harishchandrachi Factory it happened with the birth of cinema in India through the efforts of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke aka Dadasaheb Phalke. The film saw Nandu Madhav playing Phalke, who later became known as the Father of Indian Cinema.
However, there has been no word whether Rajamouli’s film will feature Phalke’s character. The details regarding the director and the cast are also not known yet.
