HBO is gearing up to release the live-action adaptation of the hit video game franchise The last of us this weekend, and the actors from the series are busy with the press tour for the series. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will star in the lead roles as Joel and Ellie, with the former being an expert at starring in major franchises. Pascal has already starred in a Star Wars project with The Mandaloriana DC Studios project with Wonder Woman 1984and now it looks like he might want to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last of us star recently had a chat with Wired and revealed that he wants to star in a Marvel movie.
“Looking back, so much of it seems to have presented itself only as an opportunity. When my parents ended up on a list of pardoned exiles and were able to return to Chile, it came with huge families on both sides, who were missing from his experience growing up in the United States,” Pascal revealed. “I guess it’s only in middle age where I feel like it can be emotionally difficult to accept that there’s nowhere to plant my flag as an individual. Everywhere is home and nowhere is home. But that’s also good. It’s often labeled as a disadvantage in our culture, but it’s an asset in terms of character, outlook and perspective.”
“But I want this. I want to be in movies.” The last of us star added when asked about starring in a Marvel role.
Mazin, HBO’s Emmy Award-winning creator chernobyl, He produced the series alongside Neil Druckmann, the creator behind the hit video game series. In an interview earlier this year, the author said The last of us is the “greatest” video game story ever told. “It’s an open-and-shut case: this is the greatest story ever told in video games.” Mazin said in an interview with Empire Magazine. “[Joel and Ellie] they didn’t shoot anything out of their eyes. They were just people. And that, in itself, is extremely rare in games. The fact that they kept it so grounded and really made you feel – I’ve never experienced anything like it and I’ve been playing video games since 1977.”
Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) include Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon and Elaine Miles as Florence. Starring Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, Having played the role of Ellie and Joel in both video games, they are also set to appear.
The last of us is set to arrive next month on HBO and HBO Max on January 15th. The first season of the show is scheduled to run for nine episodes in total with new episodes being released on a weekly basis.
