bad girls The new musical film has received its first reactions from critics and their first impressions are very positive indeed.

BuzzfeedNora Dominick said: “Reneé Rapp singing 'World Burn' won the standing ovation at my screening Bad Girls (and her name in the credits at the end won applause). I feel like this is the perfect tease that I can give.”

“She just started high school, the kids are unhappy with each other, and she told me that she felt like the movie was made specifically for her at a time when she really needed it in her life. For me, I legitimately had a great time with it—the cast is amazing, the music is committed and the script by Tina Fey updates and changes the story for modern times, keeping everything we love Bad Girls.

“Also, Tim Meadows' deadpan humor still gets me every time. I laughed A LOT more than I expected watching this. And don't hate me for it, but Reneé Rapp's Regina George is, in my opinion, the best version of this character (Also Auli'i Cravalho rules in this film!).

Acceleratorsaid Perri Nemiroff: “The new film is *very* good, but I have to point out two names in particular — Reneé Rapp and Auli'i Cravalho took my breath away. Real powerhouses there who seem to effortlessly command the screen whenever they're on it.

“What a great start to 2024 at the movies for me. I had a huge smile on my face from start to finish and left the theater buzzing with good vibes and energy.”

“Prepare to be obsessed Bad Girls! They update the script and weave in perfect music from the Broadway show.” Pop Culture PlanetKristen Maldonado posted. “The songs are top-notch and the musical numbers feel like you're inside each character's brain. There are tons of Easter eggs and fourth-wall breaking that's cheeky and fun.

“The North Shore High students who make up the ensemble almost feel like characters in a way. They bring so much life and energy to the scenes. This cast is up to the challenge, but Auli'i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey completely and utterly stole the show for me”.

From the reviews so far, it's clear that Reneé Rapp is one to watch out for, but also that Auli'i Cravalho could be a star in the making.

Bad Girls will be in cinemas on January 12th in the US and January 17th in the UK.
