The powerhouse of talent and recipient of many accolades and accolades, Vidya Balan bagged yet another accolade this year as she won the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Actress (Female) at Filmfare as well as the HT OTT Awards in a span of two weeks. With a long list of unconventional and groundbreaking films to her credit, Vidya has won major accolades like Padma Shri, National Award, 6 Filmfare Awards and many more over the years.
Vidya Balan wins two awards back to back for two films
Adding to the list of awards, Vidya Balan won her 7th Filmfare Award this year for her remarkable performance in Serneyfollowed by winning the HT OTT Awards for her latest release Jalsa. Vidya Balan emerged as the only actress to receive two consecutive awards for two different films this year.
From challenging the norms of patriarchy Serney to wear a gray shade Jalsa, Vidya Balan surely left the fans impressed with her diverse performances in these films. In fact, the actress has brought about a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine and is known for her power-packed performances in Bollywood female cinema. She is one of the few actresses in India who has managed to garner both critical and commercial success for films like The dirty picture, Pah, Ishqiya, Tumhari Sulu on the latest additions from OTT like Shakuntala Devi, Serney and Jalsa.
Vidya Balan is one of the first Bollywood stars to go the digital route for her films in the wake of the pandemic and has broken the mold by setting new precedents with her memorable characters in Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, on the work front, he is currently gearing up for Anu Menon’s next which is being shot in the UK. He also has a comedy-drama starring Pratik Gandhi in the works.
