$ 2.5 million to support five film and television projects in North Bay

Hudson & Rex fans will find Rex on a new North Bay adventure in a special season 5 in two parts

The Ontario government is providing $ 2.5 million through it North Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to support five film and television projects in North Bay.

“Today’s funding is helping to stabilize the North’s reputation as a premium manufacturing hub in North America and around the world,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing.

The following projects are funded:

  • $ 500,000 for Shaftsbury Rex V Inc, to bring two episodes of the original Citytv series “Hudson & Rex” to the North Bay area. In the special episodes, the favorite dog that solves crimes, Rex, will be presented in a new exciting adventure in northern Ontario.
  • $ 500,000 for CBTB Productions Inc for a movie called Christmas By The Book, shot in and around North Bay
  • $ 500,000 for Devils Breath Films Ontario Inc for a movie called Devil’s Breath, shot in and around North Bay
  • $ 500,000 for Hanger 18 Night Media Inc for a movie called Junction Row
  • $ 500,000 for Purgatory Jack Productions for the production of the feature film Purgatory Jack

“The Hudson & Rex audience will be delighted to find Rex on a new North Bay area adventure this season 5 in two parts,” said Christina Jennings, President, Shaftesbury.

“The availability of crew and support areas in the north has also increased tremendously in recent years, which gives even more confidence to producers from southern Ontario or foreign producers to come and return their works to northern Ontario,” he said.
